Landon Collins the only Giants player selected to 2018 Pro Bowl

The New York Giants had one player named to the Pro Bowl. Here’s a look at who was selected and who wasn’t:

SELECTIONS

Landon Collins, S, second Pro Bowl selection: He was named a starter for the NFC team. Collins isn’t having the same season as last year (in part because of ankle injuries) but is still the Giants’ leading tackler with 98 in 14 games. He also has two interceptions. After being named a first-team All-Pro last season, it’s obvious that he has earned a reputation as one of the top players at his position. Collins was second among strong safeties in the fan voting, behind only Seattle’s Kam Chancellor.

SNUBS

Damon Harrison, DT, no Pro Bowls: He’s second on the team with 64 tackles playing in the middle of the defensive line. He’s first in the NFL in run stops and among the top-ranked defensive linemen, according to Pro Football Focus. Harrison has played through myriad minor injuries and still performed well. An argument can be made that he’s the best run-stuffing lineman in the league. It still hasn't earned him a Pro Bowl selection. The lack of sacks hurts. Harrison has 1.5 sacks this season.

Evan Engram, TE, no Pro Bowls: He was fifth among all tight ends in fan voting and third in the NFC behind Philadelphia’s Zach Ertz and Seattle's Jimmy Graham. Engram’s 63 catches tie him for fifth among all tight ends and put him first among rookies. He also has 710 yards and six touchdowns, with his run-after-the-catch and big-play ability separating him from most of the competition. Only Kansas City’s Travis Kelce and New England’s Rob Gronkowski have more 20-plus-yard receptions than Engram’s 11.
