The pick: It will have to wait one more day. The Seattle Seahawks traded down, sending the final pick in the first round to Minnesota for the Vikings' Round 2 pick at No. 40 and a Round 4 pick at No. 108.

My take: This is the right move and the formula that has worked for the Seahawks, adding an additional pick. Seattle now had seven draft picks, including two in the second round and two in the fourth round. The Seahawks probably feel they still can get a player they would have selected at No. 32, eight spots later at 40.

Things fell right for the Seahawks: When the Texans didn't pick a quarterback first, it played into Seattle's hands and improved the chances of trading down for an additional pick. The Texans are likely to select a quarterback with the first pick of Round 2, so teams wanted to move ahead of Houston and get the quarterback they liked. And when Teddy Bridgewater was still on the board at the end of the first round, the Seahawks were in the driver's seat. The Vikings wanted him and knew they had to trade up or risk losing him to Houston.

What's next: Many of the players the Seahawks would consider drafting remain on the draft board, which is a good reason to trade down. One is UCLA guard Xavier Su'a-Filo. Another is Notre Dame defensive end Stephon Tuitt. And one of their favorite receivers -- Indiana's Cody Latimer -- didn't get picked in the first round. One of those players is almost certain to fall to No. 40, along with several others that some experts had as first-round picks.
