Tim Brown is living proof of the Pro Football Hall of Fame logjam.

Brown has been eligible for election since 2010. He has been one of the 15 modern-day finalists all six years. Brown, a former Oakland Raiders star wide receiver and return man, is once again one of the finalists for election.

The inductees will be announced Saturday.

However, Brown is far from a sure thing. He wasn’t one of the 10 finalists last year. One of those 10 finalists in 2014, receiver Marvin Harrison, is in the candidate pool again.

If Harrison went further than Brown last year, there is a strong chance it happens again. Plus, this year’s overall class is strong.

Although anything can happen, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Brown’s wait continues. But there is little doubt Brown will eventually get in; just look at his numbers.

Brown, the Raiders' first-round draft pick in 1988 (No. 6 overall), was a nine-time Pro Bowler. He is fourth all-time in career receptions (1,094) and receiving yards (14,934). He had 100 career receiving touchdowns.

Of his 1,094 career catches, 1,070 came as a Raider. Brown, who played his final NFL season in Tampa Bay in 2004 under former Raiders coach Jon Gruden, caught at least 80 passes nine times and had nine 1,000-plus-yard receiving seasons.

His success is worthy of a bronze bust. The only question is when it will happen.
