Titans schedule includes three in a row in Nashville in October

Breakdown: The Tennessee Titans open at home against Minnesota as the Vikings await their regular-season debut in their new stadium. That brings Michael Griffin, the safety Tennessee chose in the first round in 2007, back to Nashville as an opponent. The quickest rematch against a division opponent occurs in a month, with three games between the Titans hosting the Colts and traveling to Indianapolis. That's sufficient time between the two games, and the season series against the Texans and Jaguars are spread further apart than that. Good job, schedule makers.

Hot and cold: The Titans' warmest road games aren't scheduled badly -- they are at Miami in early October and at San Diego in early November. (I know, I know, San Diego isn't particularly hot.) The Titans' coldest road games are both in the dead of winter -- Nov. 27 against Chicago at Soldier Field and Dec. 18 against Kansas City at Arrowhead Stadium. That's not a great draw, but you have to expect to play some games in cold weather in the NFL.

Favorable timing: The Titans are home against Indianapolis on Oct. 23 before their one short turnaround of the season -- Oct. 27 at home against the Jaguars. It's the third time in three seasons the Titans' prime-time appearance comes on a Thursday night against Jacksonville. Then they have a good rest to get ready for their longest road trip, to San Diego on Nov. 6. The Packers await them in a home game after the West Coast trip. All in all, not unlucky timing.
