          College football's early signing period lasted three days in December. But recruiting didn't end there.

          Wednesday is national signing day for the February signing period, marking the last time high school recruits are able to sign their national letters of intent for the 2020 season, which locks them into the colleges of their choice.

          In December, 265 of the ESPN 300 prospects signed with their respective schools, including top prospect Julian Fleming (Ohio State), No. 2 prospect Desmond Evans (North Carolina) and No. 3 prospect Bryan Bresee (Clemson).

          But drama surrounded No. 4 prospect Jordan Burch. Burch committed to South Carolina in December but did not sign his national letter of intent. On Wednesday, he put on a South Carolina hat at his high school but had not turned in his letter of intent. South Carolina coach Will Muschamp was not able to comment on Burch.

          There were more prospects who made headlines during Wednesday's signing period.

          Fit for a prince

          Defensive end Princely Umanmielen came into February's signing period unsigned and uncommitted. He will leave it as a Florida Gator, as the No. 195-ranked prospect in the ESPN 300 announced his decision on ESPNU.

          The tide has turned

          Alabama lost an ESPN 300 commit when offensive tackle Jayson Jones, the No. 206-ranked prospect, decommitted from the Crimson Tide and signed with Oregon.

          A Texas-sized signing

          The Longhorns made another big splash in recruiting when they landed Alfred Collins, the seventh-ranked defensive end and No. 52 prospect overall, over Oklahoma and Alabama.

          SEC teams getting stronger

          Georgia already had verbal commitments from two of the top offensive linemen in the country. Now, the pen has been put to paper.

          Broderick Jones, the No. 9 prospect overall and the top-ranked offensive tackle, and Sedrick Van Pran, the 68th-ranked prospect overall and second-ranked center, both signed with the Bulldogs on Wednesday.

          Meanwhile, two other prospects who entered signing day unsigned and uncommitted joined SEC schools. Defensive tackle McKinnley Jackson, the No. 98 prospect in the ESPN 300, committed to Texas A&M over Alabama and LSU, and OG Marcus Henderson, ranked 155th overall, is headed to Arkansas over Ole Miss.

          Tennessee flips former FSU wideout

          Malachi Wideman, the No. 253-ranked prospect, flipped his commitment from Florida State and signed with Tennessee on Wednesday. A 6-foot-4, 185-pound wideout, Wideman becomes the eighth player in the ESPN 300 to sign with the Volunteers.

          Miami lands No. 1 safety

          Avantae Williams, the top-ranked safety and 51st-ranked prospect overall, is headed to Miami. Williams, a 5-foot-11 safety with 4.72 40 speed, signed with the Hurricanes over Florida, which he visited in late January.

          Florida lands top-10 receiver

          WR Xzavier Henderson, the 73rd-ranked prospect overall and eighth-ranked wideout in the ESPN 300, officially became a Gator when he signed his national letter of intent on Wednesday. Henderson, who announced his commitment in January, joins a receiving corps that includes four-star WRs Jaquavion Fraziars and Marc Britt.

          The hat fake out

          Three-star cornerback Ennis Rakestraw picked up a Texas hat ... and placed it aside. Then he picked up an Alabama cap ... and moved it to the other side. But after two dekes, the 6-foot, 170-pound cornerback out of Duncanville (Texas) High School picked up a Missouri hat, put it on his head and yelled "Mizzou!" to announce his college decision Wednesday.

          Last ESPN 300 QB off the board

          Of the 29 quarterback prospects ranked in the ESPN 300, only one was uncommitted: Malik Hornsby. That isn't the case anymore. Hornsby, the ninth-ranked dual-threat QB and the No. 228-ranked prospect overall, announced his decision to sign with Arkansas.
