Scene & Heard: DL key in 2015

After quarterback, there is not a more vital position for big-time football programs than defensive line. In the 2015 class, half of the 16 five-star prospects in the class are defensive linemen.

This week, we take a look at the five-stars and where they stand.

No. 1 overall Trenton Thompson: Thompson released an updated top group of schools Tuesday. Longtime favorite Georgia continues to be in front, followed by Auburn. The top two are locked in for now, but there is jockeying following with Clemson trending up, Alabama holding steady and Florida State slipping a little.

No. 4 Josh Sweat: The top-ranked defensive end continues to have Virginia Tech in a lead group that includes Florida State, Georgia, Ohio State and Tennessee. The Hokies are considered the early favorite. USC and UCLA are also being mentioned, but distance is likely to play a factor.
