The new trail

The spring evaluation period starts Monday, and the Georgia coaching staff will be off checking out the Bulldogs' top targets. For the first time in 15 years, former recruiting coordinator and defensive line coach Rodney Garner will not be among those representing Georgia on the recruiting trail.

Garner, who left in December to return to his alma mater, Auburn, leaves behind a legacy of not only reeling in some of the best recruits in the country for more than a decade but also developing defensive linemen for the NFL. Most importantly, he helped Georgia maintain a steady flow of top-10 recruiting classes, a level of consistency that played a huge role in the Bulldogs winning 117 games while he was in Athens, Ga.
