It takes a special type of confidence to commit to a school without taking a visit to the campus first. It takes even more gumption to do so for a university that is more than 1,000 miles away from home.
But there was something about Oklahoma that called out to three-star safety Ahmad Thomas (Miami/Central). Thomas was noticed by OU defensive backs coach Mike Stoops in the spring and earned an offer in early May. Less than two weeks later, the Sooners had their first safety commit for the 2013 class.
Following his commitment, all Thomas talked about was visiting the campus. But for one reason or another, the visit kept getting delayed.
