The Bulls could have star flyhalf Handre Pollard back for their final three Super Rugby games this season after he returned to training following ankle surgery in April.

Pollard missed the entire 2016 season with ruptured knee ligaments and his return at the start of the year was hailed as a boost for Springbok coach Allister Coetzee.

But an ankle problem has left him on the sidelines again and out of the Boks' three-test home series against France in June.

He will be eager to prove his fitness in the final three games of a dismal Super Rugby season for the Bulls and put himself into the frame for the Rugby Championship that starts in August.

The Bulls have confirmed that loose-forward Hanro Liebenberg will be out for six weeks with an ankle injury, while prop Jacobie Adriaanse (six weeks) and lock Jannes Kirsten (two weeks) are sidelined after sustaining concussions.
