Eight NFL offseason storylines ... in emojis

In the spirit of World Emoji Day (yup, that's a thing), we thumbed through our emoji keyboards to break down the offseason news of eight NFL teams:

Washington Redskins

In July, a federal judge ordered the cancellation of the Washington Redskins' trademark registration, ruling that the team name might be disparaging to Native Americans. The team can use the Redskins name if it wishes, and Redskins president Bruce Allen said the team will appeal. "To be continued" emoji?

New York Giants

Not long ago, the main emoji storyline of the Giants' offseason would have been a recycling symbol for bringing back defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. Then defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul lost his right index finger after a fireworks accident. Giants fans, this could be as exciting as your season gets.

New England Patriots

Still no verdict on Tom Brady's Deflategate appeal (latest here), keeping the "Free Brady" movement alive and well. But, when it's all said and done, the Patriots still have a Lombardi trophy and a banner to raise.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles gave Chip Kelly the authority to blow up his roster, shipping LeSean McCoy to the Bills and adding DeMarco Murray. Will the moves pay off? Kelly seems happy with his team, but we had to add the single drop of sweat.

Jacksonville Jaguars

We'll start with the good stuff. Jacksonville had the most salary-cap space and spent a ton of cash in free agency. Then first-round pick Dante Fowler Jr. tore his ACL less than an hour into his first practice. And if that weren't bad enough, beloved mascot Jaxson de Ville is retiring. Sad kitty.

Dallas Cowboys

All-Pro WR Dez Bryant sent Cowboys fans into a panic by tweeting that he wouldn't show up if owner Jerry Jones didn't pay up. Just before the franchise tag deadline, the two reached an agreement on a $70 million deal, meaning Dez will still be throwing up the X while cashing checks in Big D.

Minnesota Vikings

After much drama -- including coach Mike Zimmer and GM Rick Spielman flying to Texas to do some convincing -- Adrian Peterson will be back on the field in purple and gold.

St. Louis Rams

Despite major changes to the offense, the only question people really care about is whether the Rams are moving to Los Angeles.
