No miracles for Red Bull - Daniil Kvyat

Daniil Kvyat is not expecting any miracles from Red Bull over the coming races.

On Tuesday, Kvyat completed 101 laps in the RB11 on the first of two days of in-season testing at the Circuit de Catalunya. It followed a frustrating weekend for Red Bull, in which Kvyat was outpaced by his old team Toro Rosso in qualifying and then overtaken on the last lap of the race by Toro Rosso's Carlos Sainz.

Red Bull brought a long-awaited shorter nose to the Spanish Grand Prix, but after another day behind the wheel of the updated RB11, Kvyat is not expecting much from the next few races.

"I don't know, I think there are no miracles but we will try to learn something from today and we will try to put it all together step-by-step," he said. "Hopefully we will get there. I think we shouldn't expect massive steps from ourselves, I think we should take it building things up together step-by-step.

"Today from Renault's side everything's been okay as far as I know, so I think it will be important to see the same progress now in future races."

Kvyat lost time in the morning of the test to a hydraulic problem but made up for it with 81 laps in the afternoon session. The track time was particularly useful for engine supplier Renault as teams do not need to use engines from their race allocation in testing and so can experiment with fresh power units without the risk of penalties.

"We are so limited on Fridays, obviously a bit too much, so these kind of tests are very important for us," Kvyat explained. "Today was one of the very, very important days because it's quite crucial to understand a few things and for the team to get as much data as possible. My feedback will be very important and we will try to learn something strong out of today."

Asked if he was finding his first season with Red Bull frustrating, Kvyat said: "No I'm not frustrated or anything, I'm just trying to give the team the most I can from myself. I think only this will help us sort out the issues, not frustration or anything. The potential, I know my potential and at the moment is enough. Let's see if I will be able to show it to the world one day as well."
