The FIA has removed the new kerb at the top of Eau Rouge and part of the kerb at the exit of La Source following Friday's driver meeting.
The Spa-Francorchamps circuit installed a sausage kerb at the top of Eau Rouge - also known as Raidillon - to deter drivers cutting the corner. However, after F1 Friday practice and a GP3 practice session that saw a car get airbourne as it avoided the kerb, the FIA decided to remove it.
There is also a kerb on the exit of the first corner - La Source - which is designed to stop drivers gaining an advantage by running wide, especially at the start. The last ten metres of the kerb has been removed so that drivers are still punished for running wide but will not have to cross the kerb a second time as they return to the track.
However, the FIA has warned teams that the stewards will investigate any incidents where a driver exceeds track limits and gains an advantage, especially at Raidillon and at Paul Frère (Turn 15) which leads onto the final straight.
