Kimi Raikkonen is confident Ferrari has solved the issue which saw him drop out of Q2 in Belgium ahead of the team's homecoming at the Italian Grand Prix.
Raikkonen suffered a loss of oil pressure in the second qualifying session at Spa-Francorchamps, something he later called "bad timing" as his qualifying problems continued. The issue left Raikkonen on the back foot for the race and he could only recover to finish eighth after a gearbox penalty had relegated him to 16th on the grid.
Speaking about the Spa issue, Raikkonen said: "It was a new thing but we know what it was. It was an unfortunate thing and something that has not happened to us before, so nobody really expected it. It's been fixed and should not happen, but things can always go wrong. But I think we understood it and fixed it and it should be fine."
Raikkonen signed a contract extension for 2016 ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix and admits he is hoping to deliver a good result for Ferrari's tifosi at Monza, even if he was typically coy about whether the team has spent any more engine development tokens.
"Tokens? I don't know. You will have to talk to the team and I guess the FIA knows. I don't know. When it comes to this weekend, it's difficult to say because it's the first real low-downforce circuit. I guess it's easier to wait until tomorrow's practice to see roughly where we are and what we think. Hopefully it goes well and it will be nice to have a good weekend here at our home race and with a lot of fans. We will try our best at least."
Having never won at Monza, Raikkonen is hoping to banish some bad memories this weekend.
"Obviously none of them have been ideal because I haven't managed to win. I have had some good speed quite often, but something has always happened and we have not been able to be on top. We will try again and hopefully we will have a good strong week and we can give a good result for the team and all the fans."
