Felipe Massa on Monza third: I'm getting to old for this!

Felipe Massa joked he is getting too old to absorb the kind of pressure team-mate Valtteri Bottas put him under at the end of the Italian Grand Prix after returning to the Monza podium for the second year in a row.

Massa crossed just three tenths ahead of Bottas after his team-mate launched a late attack which saw the two Williams cars wheel-to-wheel at one point on the final lap.

After the race, Massa joked to his team: ""I'm too old for that, too old," to which his engineer replied: "Rubbish, we're just getting started mate."

Massa, who never appeared on the Monza podium in seven attempts as a Ferrari driver but has done so at both attempts with Williams, admitted his tyres were clinging to life as Bottas pushed him.

"I am really a happy man today," Massa said. "The start wasn't fantastic but the other guys did even worse. The pace was pretty good during the whole race apart from the last ten laps when it was really tough as I was losing the tyres and Valtteri was pushing hard."

"It was very tough - I'm getting too old for that! The last three laps were pretty difficult - he was catching me a lot and he was quicker than me. The problem was that he had better traction, but I managed to fight and get to the podium, so I am so happy for the position and for the team, which scored great and fantastic points today."
