Sebastian Vettel has returned to action ahead of the 2016 season with a Ferrari test session in a two-year old car.
The German driver conducted a number of laps at the team's Fiorano test facility in the 2014 car -- the F14T -- as part of a promotional event. A spokesperson told Autosport the session was also "a correlation test with the simulator".
Under the FIA regulations a team is allowed to run a car from 2012, 2013 or 2014 without modification, known as "testing of previous cars" . No team is allowed to run any new components on the car.
The test is part of Vettel and Ferrari's preparations for the new season, which will continue with a wet-weather test in the 2015 car at France's Paul Ricard circuit next weekend. Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen will split duties on either day.
