Sebastian Vettel topped a wet final practice session ahead of Saturday's qualifying for the Chinese Grand Prix.
The Ferrari driver completed just one flying lap on intermediate tyres, but still managed to beat his closest competitor, Valtteri Bottas, by 0.710s. The Mercedes duo opted not to set times as they completed just two laps each on the full wet tyres.
The top three drivers all set their times on intermediates, with Carlos Sainz setting the fourth fastest time on a used set of wet tyres. He and Renault's Kevin Magnussen completed nine laps, the most laps of any of the drivers, with Magnussen looking to make up for lost time following his suspension failure in Friday morning practice. Of the rest of the drivers who set times, only Max Verstappen and Felipe Massa did so on the wets, with the rest opting for intermediates as conditions improved towards the end of the hour.
A number of drivers went wide at Turn 1 and Turn 6, but Romain Grosjean was the only driver to spin through 180 degrees when he lost the rear of his Haas at Turn 10. The rain stopped altogether by the end of the session, meaning the track may only be damp for the start of qualifying if the weather continues to hold off.
