Force India owner Vijay Mallya says the VJM09 will look "quite different" at the Spanish Grand Prix as the team introduces a comprehensive upgrade package.
Force India has had a frustrating start to the season, scoring just eight points in the opening four races. Last year the team started with an underdeveloped car before introducing a big B-spec upgrade at the British Grand Prix which led to a big turnaround in fortunes, helping Force India secure fifth in the constructors' championship.
Another big upgrade has always been in the pipeline this season and is set to be introduced at the Circuit de Catalunya.
"It's on schedule to be fitted to both cars ahead of Friday practice," Mallya said. "It's pretty comprehensive and the car will look quite different."
Force India has had been affected by safety cars on two occasions this season and believes it should have more points to its name at this stage of the year. Mallya does not believe the team has had the chance to show its true pace.
"I hope we've used up all of our bad luck already! We've yet to see how we perform in a clean, trouble-free race without safety cars, red flags or accidents.
"Despite not realising our potential in Sochi, we took encouragement from our qualifying and race pace: the car is improving and we've got a good base on which to build. There are 17 races to go and I'm confident the best is yet to come. It's a marathon, not a sprint."
