Sebastian Vettel: More to come from Ferrari

Sebastian Vettel was pleased with the gap to Mercedes on Friday and thinks there is more to come from Ferrari as the Canadian Grand Prix weekend progresses.

Vettel split the Mercedes drivers in FP2, finishing two tenths shy of Lewis Hamilton's benchmark time. Ferrari has introduced an engine upgrade for the weekend and Vettel says the team did not get the most out of its quickest laps on Friday afternoon.

When asked if he could expect to split the pair again come qualifying on Saturday afternoon, he replied: "Well ideally I hope not to split them and be just ahead of them! I think they will be quick, not a surprise as it's a circuit that suits them and they've been very competitive these last couple of years. In the end we need to do our best and then we see where that will take us. But the closer we can be already from Friday, the better."

Asked if he was happy with the car, he said: "Yeah...ish. I think the car is always very alive here, with the kerbs it is quite a rough track.

"There are still some things we can improve and we need to work on. Overall the car seems to work, there's nothing wrong and the bits we brought seem to give us what we expected, so that's good news for today.

"For sure we try to focus on the remainder of the weekend, quali and race. Quali trim I think we were pretty happy with the car. But not entirely happy with the [FP2] lap, there is a little bit we can improve with the car which should help us on Saturday.

"It's true that the last weekends maybe wasn't great for us on Saturday but equally there is nothing wrong wrong so we don't have to be worried for tomorrow."
