TURIN, Italy -- McLaren's new F1 CEO, Jost Capito, will start work with his new team following Formula One's summer break.

McLaren announced Capito's signing in January but his arrival date was not revealed at the time as he continued in his role as Director of Motorsport at Volkswagen. Speaking to journalists at the FIA Sport Conference in Turin, Capito said he was due to switch to the F1 team ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix.

"Yes, this year," he said. "It will be the end of August, beginning of September, something around that region."

Asked if he'd been keeping an eye on McLaren's progress this year, he said: "I've not - the job at VW is such a big job. It's not only WRC, it's rallycross in the US, it's TCR... As long as I'm there, I'm doing a proper job there."

Capito has previous F1 experience at both Sauber and Ford as an engine manufacturer.
