Honda has spent two of its engine development tokens on a power unit upgrade for this weekend's British Grand Prix.
The Japanese manufacturer will bring the upgraded power unit for Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button's cars, meaning new engines for both McLaren drivers. The tokens have been spent on internal combustion engine (ICE) intake in an attempt to improve combustion efficiency.
Honda's last upgrade was introduced at the Canadian Grand Prix and was aimed at improving the harvesting capability and fuel efficiency of the power unit rather than a pure power increase. McLaren recorded its strongest result of the season at the last race as Jenson Button drove to sixth in Austria.
The update leaves Honda with 10 remaining tokens having spent 22 so far this year. Renault still has 21 remaining, while Mercedes and Ferrari have 11 and three respectively.
