SILVERSTONE, Great Britain -- Kimi Raikkonen says it gives him pleasure to see people disappointed about his contract renewal at Ferrari.

After months of speculation, Raikkonen signed for 2017 for Ferrari earlier this week, meaning the team's driver line-up will remain unchanged next year.

Asked what it meant for him, Raikkonen said: "It's easier now, people stopping asking the same question. I wouldn't have signed the contract if I wasn't happy here, but the rest doesn't really change.

"We go and work the same way but it's easiest for us that people don't ask these kind of questions. I'm very happy about it, it gives me pleasure to see disappointed people about it."

Raikkonen says he can now focus on the rule changes of 2017.

"When it comes to next year it's a different story with different rules. We can take time now and start talking about contracts maybe in January maybe later in the year. For us it just makes it easier."
