Radio Ga Ga: 'Esteban's my favourite. I love this guy.'

ESPN rounds up the best soundbites from the German Grand Prix, which followed the relaxation of F1's unpopular radio rules.

"Remember the plan for the first four laps, Nico."

Having seen his race unravel at the first corner, Nico Rosberg is reminded to look after his tyres after several unsuccessful attempts to get past Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo.

"OK Lewis, it's hammer time."

Peter Bonnington's popular rallying cry returns at Hockenheim ahead of Hamilton's first pit stop, as the world champion continues stretching out his comfortable lead.

"Nico pushed me off the track, left me nowhere to go."

Max Verstappen complains about Rosberg's lunge down the inside of the hairpin mid-way through the race, which forced the Red Bull driver to bail out of the corner and across a run-off. The stewards would agree, handing Rosberg a costly five-second penalty.

"Can you explain to them I was full lock on the wheel? He moved under braking, that was the problem, that's not allowed."

Rosberg protests after hearing about being punished for what he later described as an "awesome" pass on the Red Bull teenager.

"Ricciardo is pushing hard so we need mid-19 lap times Nico, really important..."

Mercedes gives Rosberg the hurry up as he tries to gain enough time to jump the Red Bulls, knowing a penalty is to come. The desired pace never materialises and Rosberg has to settle for fourth position.

"Box Sebastian, box."
"Negative, negative, I'm going to take a couple more laps. Tyres are still good."

As he did in Baku, Sebastian Vettel takes a firm stance against Ferrari when it calls him in for his final pit stop.

"By the way, who do you want to undercut?"
"Verstappen..."

Vettel continues asking questions and Ferrari tells him it wants to attempt to undercut Max Verstappen, at that point a long way up the road in third.

"OK, stay out...."

Ferrari eventually relents. After the race Vettel admits going against the team's strategy was "a mistake".

"Bottas on 32-lap primes, Jenson."
"Yep, I'm coming!"

On the final lap Jenson Button closes in on Valtteri Bottas, who is struggling with Williams' failed two-stop strategy. Button will go on to make the move stick for eighth position.

"Esteban's my favourite. I love this guy."

After being held up behind the Haas for too long, Daniel Ricciardo sarcastically compliments the driving of Esteban Gutierrez, who he later accuses of being the worst at obeying blue flags on the entire grid.

"OK Daniel. You can rest assured he's doing it to everyone. He's not just picking on you."

In response, Ricciardo's race engineer Simon Rennie confirms the Haas pilot has been a repeat offender in the race.
