Sergio Perez says he has been forced to delay an announcement about his 2017 plans, after hoping to confirm where he will be ahead of this weekend's Singapore Grand Prix.

At July's German Grand Prix Force India stated the Mexican has a contract to race at the team for next season, but Perez has previously admitted that any deal depends on his sponsors agreeing new terms with the outfit, and that he could leave if a more attractive option became available.

When asked if he was any closer to announcing a decision during Thursday's driver press conference in Singapore, Perez replied: "Well I tried, I was hoping to be able to be in a position to announce my plans for this weekend. We got some delays but I really hope that before the next race we can definitely announce where I will be racing."

Perez had been linked with both Renault and Williams but such rumours have cooled in recent weeks. Having initially been non-committal over his future at Force India, Perez re-iterated he would be more than happy to stay at the team next year.

"Well I always say that I will be very happy if I can stay and if everything is fine for me to stay where I am."
