Kimi Raikkonen is set to receive a five-place grid penalty at the Japanese Grand Prix after Ferrari was forced to change his gearbox overnight.
Raikkonen qualified third at Suzuka on Saturday, but will drop to eighth on the grid once the penalty is applied. Gearboxes have to last six consecutive events under FIA regulations and changing the gearbox results in an automatic penalty.
It means both Ferraris will start the race below the position they qualified, with Sebastian Vettel facing a three-place grid penalty for clipping Nico Rosberg at the start of last weekend's Malaysian Grand Prix. However, Raikkonen's penalty means Vettel moves one place back up to sixth behind Sergio Perez, the two Red Bulls and two Mercedes.
