Best qualifying: 7th, Brazilian Grand Prix

Haas' rookie F1 season is a mixed bag. If you had predicted the American outfit's season before Melbourne, you might well have drawn a graph which looked similar its year in reverse. A blockbuster start saw Romain Grosjean finish sixth in Australia and then fifth in Bahrain as F1's newbies looked set to be instantly competitive -- only for the realities of F1 to kick in as the season progressed.

Haas struggled massively after the summer break, with seemingly endless brake issues and what was often a wild, untameable car. Italy and Brazil were big missed opportunities as the team scored just a solitary point in the second half of the season. The extensive Ferrari partnership clearly offered a strong base to start but lots of work is needed over this winter to avoid similar headaches in 2017 when development is going to be absolutely essential with the big regulation changes.
