Unwell Daniel Ricciardo misses another day of F1 testing

SAKHIR, Bahrain -- McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo has missed another day of testing in Bahrain after feeling unwell.

Ricciardo was due to drive half of Thursday and all of Friday but pulled out of both sessions after falling ill ahead of this week's test.

McLaren teammate Lando Norris replaced Ricciardo on both days in the hope the Australian will be fit enough to drive on the final day of the test on Saturday.

"In a change to our planned programme, Lando Norris will continue driving the MCL36 this morning," McLaren said in a statement. "Daniel Ricciardo began feeling unwell yesterday morning, and while showing signs of improvement, the team will continue to assess him before he resumes driving duties.

"Daniel as had several precautionary Covid-19 tests during this time, which have been negative throuighout."

Norris finished the opening day sixth fastest but only completed 50 laps due to an issue with the car's brakes.

"We just had problems with the brakes today, simple as that," he said. "The exact problems I'm not too sure, but just temperatures and stuff.

"It didn't allow us to do long runs. Things we are trying to fix the next few days, it's not going to be an easy fix, so we'll see what we can do."
