The Football Association of Thailand (FAT) are poised to sit down with Kiatisuk "Zico" Senamuang to talk about a possible contract extension. Last Saturday's 2-0 win over Indonesia at Bangkok's Rajamangala Stadium gave Thailand a 3-2 aggregate triumph, and a new AFF Suzuki Cup record of five titles. Following that deserved success, FAT are set to hold talks with Zico in January before his term runs out the following month. "Kiatisuk is really the main person and I would like to praise him for using good tactics," FAT president Somyot Poompunmuang told the Bangkok Post. "We know that his contract will end in February. Therefore, we will call him in January for a discussion about his contract. We will also talk about future goals that we want to set for the national team." Thailand overturned a 2-1 deficit from the first leg, thanks to hulking forward Siroch Chattong, who netted a brace in front of a capacity crowd. The victory added to their 2014 success when Kiatisuk also masterminded victory over Malaysia. "This title is a New Year gift for the Thai people. We dedicate this success to His Majesty the King and King Rama IX, who passed away in October," said Kiatisuk. Victory also proved a turning point for the tournament's Most Valuable Player Chanatip Songkrasin, who secured an 18-month loan move to newly promoted J-League One side Consadole Sapporo on Monday. Sapporo have the option of signing "Messi Jay" permanently once the loan deal ends. Chanatip was one of Thailand's architect's in their title winning run, with his exemplary vision and creativity. The Muang Thong United playmaker set up Siroch's second goal in the final with a sublime nutmeg pass to kill off Indonesia's hopes. But it was not all good news for Thailand, as the FAT could be fined after their fans lit flares during the final, throwing some onto the field to celebrate their team's victory.
