The LA Galaxy have boosted their striking options by acquiring their former forward Alan Gordon from the San Jose Earthquakes in exchange for allocation money.
Gordon, who was originally drafted by the Galaxy in the 2004 MLS SuperDraft, has logged 180 appearances while scoring 39 goals and adding 26 assists during his 11 years in Major League Soccer.
"Alan is a proven MLS player who adds another scoring threat to our roster going forward," said Galaxy coach Bruce Arena in a written press release. "We are pleased to welcome him back as a member of the Galaxy."
A native of Long Beach, California, Gordon returns to the Galaxy after an almost three-year stint with the San Jose Earthquakes. During his time with the team, he scored 23 times in MLS, including a career-high 13 goals and seven assists in 2012 that helped lead the Earthquakes to winning the Supporters' Shield. Prior to his time in San Jose, Gordon had stints with Chivas USA and Toronto FC.
Gordon has one cap for the United States, making his only appearance in 2012 against Antigua & Barbuda and feeding fellow striker Eddie Johnson with the game-winning assist.
