MANCHESTER -- Vincent Kompany has been ruled out for up to six weeks with a knee injury, Pep Guardiola has confirmed.
The Manchester City boss also said that Sergio Aguero and Pablo Zabaleta will be assessed ahead of the Premier League clash with Burnley on Saturday lunchtime after picking up minor injuries.
City captain Kompany, who has not completed 90 minutes this season, was injured in last Saturday's 2-1 win at Crystal Palace after colliding with keeper Claudio Bravo.
He initially appeared to have suffered concussion but tests have revealed that he damaged ligaments in his right knee. City have been linked with a possible move for a defender in the January transfer window but Guardiola said he has options for the centre of defence in his squad.
"They confirm with what the doctor and the guys here said, and said it is ligament and he will be four or six weeks out," Guardiola told a news conference.
"We have other options. Fernandinho can play there, Sagna can play there. In Crystal Palace after one and a half months injured Bacary played the first game and he played central defender for many minutes. He played awesome so we have other options to solve that problem."
Meanwhile, City striker Aguero will be assessed in training after hurting his foot in the Champions League draw with Borussia Monchengladbach on Wednesday.
Defender Zabaleta, who did not travel with the squad to Germany and missed the game at Palace, faces a fitness test.
"Sergio had a problem with his foot and today we have training. We will know exactly his condition and the condition of the other players," Guardiola added.
"We played the last game not far away and we have a game at 12.30 p.m. so tomorrow we will see their condition. Pablo Zabaleta as well."
