Colorado Rapids keeper Joe Nasco gets fastest red card in MLS history

Colorado Rapids goalkeeper Joe Nasco woke up this morning as the proud holder of a new MLS record after taking LESS THAN ONE MINUTE to get himself sent off during Friday evening's game against LA Galaxy.

With just 34 seconds on the clock, Nasco scrambled desperately across the floor in an attempt to stop Alan Gordon tapping in the opening goal and duly tripped the Galaxy forward to deny a clear goal-scoring opportunity.

Sadly for Nasco, the referee was left with little option but to brandish his red card, and Rapids went on to lose 6-0.

Nasco's 34-second dismissal is now officially the new fastest sending-off in MLS history, with the previous record being held by former New York Red Bulls defender Carlos Johnson, who took a whole two minutes to receive his marching orders in a game against Kansas City Wizards in 2009.

However, Nasco's red is nowhere near the quickest in world football history, with Cross Farm Park Celtic player Lee Todd finding himself ejected from a Sunday league game against Taunton East Reach Wanderers after just two seconds in 2000.

With the referee blowing his whistle to get the game underway right next to him, a startled Todd exclaimed: "F--- me, that was loud!"

The striker was then immediately sent off for using foul and abusive language.
