Paolo Guerrero released from hospital to continue dengue fever treatment

SAO PAULO -- Corinthians striker Paolo Guerrero has been released from a Brazilian hospital and will continue dengue fever treatment at home.

The Peru international was released on Friday, six days after being admitted with high fever and body pain. He will continue to be monitored at home, but team doctors said there is a chance he can begin practicing again by the end of next week.

He will miss Corinthians' match against rival Palmeiras in the semifinal of the Sao Paulo state championship on Sunday, as well as the team's final group stage match in the Copa Libertadores on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old Guerrero was one of the three players from first-division clubs diagnosed with the mosquito-borne disease this week.

Brazil is enduring a dengue fever outbreak, with most cases in Sao Paulo state.
