Fabio Coentrao to join Monaco on loan from Real Madrid

Monaco have agreed a deal to sign Fabio Coentrao on loan from Real Madrid, the Ligue 1 side have announced.

Monaco were in need of reinforcements at left-back after agreeing to sell Layvin Kurzawa to Paris Saint-Germain and have beaten Inter Milan to the signing of Coentrao.

A club statement read: "AS Monaco are delighted to announce that the club has reached agreement with Real Madrid to take Portuguese international Fabio Coentrao on loan.

"The left-back will have a medical on Thursday, before joining AS Monaco for the 2015-16 season."

Real have also confirmed the transfer has been agreed on their official Twitter account.

The Portugal international, 27, moved to the Bernabeu from Benfica in 2011 but has suffered a number of injury problems during his time in Spain.
