U.S. international Gyasi Zardes signed a contract extension on Thursday to stay with the LA Galaxy.
Terms were not disclosed, but the Galaxy said they used targeted allocation money to sign Zardes, which means he will make at least $457,500, a significant upgrade from his 2015 base salary of $150,000.
Zardes, 24, has previously been linked to a move to English club Reading, but will now stay in MLS. The Los Angeles Times reported that the deal is through at least 2018.

Zardes has played for the Galaxy for three seasons after signing as a homegrown player. He has scored 26 goals with 10 assists for LA, helping them win the MLS Cup in 2014.
He has become a regular fixture in Jurgen Klinsmann's United States squad, making 19 appeances after debuting in 2015, tying the U.S. record for most caps in their first year.
