Tottenham Hotspur will attempt to win consecutive league games against Manchester United for the first time in nearly 30 years when they visit Old Trafford on Saturday.
Spurs defeated United 2-1 on May 14 in the final game at White Hart Lane, with Harry Kane scoring the deciding goal in the 49th minute.
The last time they were victorious in successive league games was in the 1989-90 season, when they won 1-0 at Old Trafford on Dec. 16 and 2-1 at home on April 21. (They also won a League Cup game 3-0 on Oct. 25.)
A victory for Tottenham, though, would be historically rare. They have lost 20 of their 25 Premier League games against United at Old Trafford, winning just twice with three draws, and have more losses away to United than they do against any other club in the competition.
The last time they did not lose away against United in the Premier League was on Jan. 1, 2014, when they claimed a 2-1 victory.
United also enter having not only won their last five Premier League games at home but also keeping a clean sheet in each one. The last time they earned six consecutive home league wins without conceding a goal was in March 2010, when a run of seven clean sheets ended.
They have, however, scored only one goal in their last two Premier League games -- a draw against Liverpool at home and an away loss to Huddersfield Town -- and Spurs, who have also played the same opponents over their last three games, scored a combined eight goals against them.
The game will mark the eighth Premier League meeting between United's Jose Mourinho and Tottenham's Mauricio Pochettino. Mourinho has won four of the previous seven, three of which were when he managed Chelsea, and Pochettino's four losses to a Mourinho-led side are his most against any other Premier League manager.
Kane, who leads the Premier League with eight goals this season, enters having scored only once in seven games against United in his career.
He has, however, scored 29 goals in 26 Premier League appearances in 2017 -- seven off the all-time record in a calendar year held by Alan Shearer, who scored 36 goals in 1995. Fifteen of those 29 goals have been away from home, leaving him third in one year behind Robin van Persie (19 in 2011) and Sergio Aguero (17 in 2016).
United's Romelu Lukaku, meanwhile, has scored only 15 goals in 58 Premier League appearances against the "big six" clubs -- including one in eight games against Tottenham.
And, if Marcus Rashford were to make an appearance against Spurs, it will be 3,883 consecutive games that a United manager has selected a youth team graduate in their match-day squad.
It would be his final appearance for United as a teenager -- he turns 20 on Oct. 31 -- and if he were to score two goals against Tottenham, he would equal Wayne Rooney's club record of 15 Premier League goals scored before his 20th birthday.
