Sweden may never see another Zlatan Ibrahimovic. But the search for the new "Ibra" has already begun, and every promising Swedish forward will have to live with the comparisons to the towering Manchester United striker -- who retired from internationals last year.
So who could one day fill his shoes? Here's a look at three names who have been mentioned in the debate.
Alexander Isak
The 18-year-old Isak is widely seen as Sweden's most promising young talent after a breakthrough season with Stockholm club AIK last year, netting 10 goals in 24 league matches when he was still 17. That led to a €10 million move to Borussia Dortmund this summer, with Real Madrid reportedly interested as well.
While he had to wait until October for his first start, he marked that with a goal and an assist in the German Cup. While he won't take Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's starting position any time soon, but he could be a long-term replacement for the prolific forward.
John Guidetti
Guidetti has been billed as Ibrahimovic's heir apparent ever since he poured in 20 goals in 23 games for Dutch club Feyenoord back in 2011-12, while on loan from Manchester City. But at 25, Guidetti is now running out of time to live up to the billing.
A serious leg injury sidelined him for more than a year after that breakthrough season, and he then failed to impress during further loans at Stoke and Celtic before a permanent move to Celta Vigo in 2015.
Guidetti shares Ibrahimovic's brash attitude and always speaks with extreme self-confidence about his own abilities. But one goal in 19 internationals speaks for itself.
Zackarias Faour
The 19-year-old Faour also had to carry the tag of being "the new Zlatan" when he came out of the youth ranks at Malmo -- Ibrahimovic's native club -- and joined Manchester City's academy at the age of 15.
But he never looked close to breaking into City's first team and returned to Sweden this year to play for Uppsala-based Sirius. He is still a raw talent, but shouldn't remain in the Swedish league for long if he lives up to his potential.
