Hull, Swansea lining up moves for free agent Diego Poyet - sources

Hull City and Swansea City are lining up moves for former West Ham United midfielder Diego Poyet, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

Poyet is a free agent after cancelling his contract at West Ham by mutual consent on transfer deadline day last summer.

West Ham beat a number of Premier League clubs to sign Poyet in 2014 after he impressed for Charlton Athletic in the Championship.

The 21-year-old is keen to fix himself up with a new club and sources said a number of sides at home and abroad have been monitoring his situation.

Hull are in the market for midfield reinforcements before the close of the transfer window after selling Jake Livermore to West Bromwich Albion and losing Ryan Mason to serious injury with a fractured skull.

Swansea are also considering a move for Poyet as Paul Clement looks to strengthen his squad to help them in their bid to secure Premier League survival.

A couple of Serie A sides, including Crotone, have also reportedly expressed an interest in Poyet and the Uruguay under-20 international will now consider his options over where to continue his career.
