Altinordu chairman Mehmet Seyit Ozkan has said Barcelona forward Lionel Messi could not play for the club, even if he offered to do so for free.
The Turkish second division side plan to build a team solely made up of players trained at the club, and have invested in a huge youth academy program buying up hundreds of acres of land around the Izmir region.
Ozkan said: "Even if Messi came to me and said I will play a season at Altinordu for free I would tell him no. I believe in our philosophy and will not deviate from our goals, we will continue to train local players.
"How far can we go? That depends on the players we produce, we will determine our own success."
Messi, who has won the Champions League four times with Barcelona and received the FIFA Ballon d'Or on four occasions. Meanwhile, Altinordu are ninth in the Turkish second tier.
