After casting its eye abroad for a goalkeeper, FC Dallas has signed current No. 1 Jesse Gonzalez to a new four-and-a-half year contract, multiple sources have confirmed to ESPN FC.
Goal.com was the first to report the news.
One source with knowledge of the deal said Gonzalez's average annual salary over the life of the contract will be around $275,000.
Numerous reports had stated that Dallas was interested in Mexico international Guillermo Ochoa as well as U.S. international and Leon goalkeeper William Yarbrough.
Multiple sources at both league and club level denied there was interest in Ochoa. As for Yarbrough, the club source said: "We had conversations with Yarbrough, there was some interest, but it never got to the point where money was discussed."
Gonzalez is in his fifth season with FCD, having signed as a Homegrown Player back in 2013. He has since made 36 league and cup appearances, nine of which have come this season.
Gonzalez has represented El Tri at youth level, and just recently pledged his international allegiance to Mexico, though that decision isn't final until he makes a senior team appearance.
