Manchester City's Nolito denies reports of potential Sevilla switch

Manchester City winger Nolito has dismissed reports that he is in talks with Sevilla over a potential move.

A photograph of Nolito with Sevilla sporting director Oscar Arias, published in the Spanish media, fuelled speculation of a switch to the Sanchez Pizjuan stadium.

However, Nolito, who is in Spain on holiday, told Onda Cero radio: "I was in Seville by chance because we went to buy a dress for my wife.

"I went to have a coffee, and coincidentally I saw the Sevilla sporting director. I also saw the Sevilla president later on, but thank goodness no one took a photograph then."

Nolito, who turned down a return to Barcelona last summer to sign for City in an €18 million switch from Celta Vigo, started only 14 games in all competitions last season.

But he said he bore no grudge against City coach Pep Guardiola, adding: "I'm not angry with Guardiola and he doesn't have to have reasons to be angry with me, either. It simply hasn't gone well."

Nolito, 30, has three years remaining on his contract but is a reported target of several clubs, including Celta.

"I don't think City is counting on me much considering the minutes I've played since January," he said. "It's up to them. I have a contract and City has the say, but I would like to leave."

Nolito's limited playing time in England has seen him lose his place in the Spain squad, but he said he had not given up hope of making it to the World Cup.

"I always say that the best is yet to come," he said. "I will do all I can to be at the World Cup."
