Schalke's Max Meyer considers future amid Spurs, Liverpool links

Schalke midfielder Max Meyer, who has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, has said he will consider his future following the European Under-21 Championship in Poland.

Meyer recently announced that he would not be signing a new deal with the club after a disappointing campaign last season, which led to the dismissal of coach Markus Weinzierl.

And speaking to reporters in Poland, he said he had yet to talk to new coach Domenico Tedesco and "will take things as they come."

He added: "Sure, there is hope that things will be better for me at the club.

"I have not said that I will leave Schalke, but rather that I won't extend my contract. We'll see about the rest."

Meyer, 21, impressed for Germany's under-21 team in their 2-0 win against Czech Republic on Sunday, scoring the opening goal.

Schalke teammate Leon Goretzka, currently at the Confederations Cup with the Germany senior squad, has strongly been linked with a move to Bayern Munich either this summer or on a free transfer following next season.
