Montreal Impact to renew Blerim Dzemaili's loan for 2018 season

The Montreal Impact will renew designated player Blerim Dzemaili's loan for the 2018 season, the MLS club announced on Thursday.

Dzemaili, 31, is on loan from Serie A club Bologna, which is also owned by Impact president Joey Saputo.

After joining Montreal in May, he went on to scored seven goals with 10 assists in 22 starts, and will now return for a second season.

The Impact also exercised the contract options on goalkeeper Evan Bush, defenders Kyle Fisher and Daniel Lovitz, midfielders David Choiniere and Michael Salazar and striker Nick DePuy, but parted ways with defender Shaun Francis and midfielder Andres Romero.

Goalkeeper Eric Kronberg, defender Hassoun Camara and midfielder Hernan Bernardello will not return after their contracts expired, while defender Chris Duvall has been offered a new deal.

Defender Ambroise Oyongo is also expected to leave Montreal after reportedly agreeing a move to Montpellier in Ligue 1.
