The 2018 MTN8 final between SuperSport United and Cape Town City will be played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on September 29, the Premier Soccer League has confirmed. Kick-off for the game will be at 19:00 local time.
The fixture is a repeat of last year's decider between the same two clubs at the same venue, with the trophy lifted on that occasion by SuperSport, who triumphed 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
The MTN8 is the first piece of silverware on offer in a season and City coach Benni McCarthy will be hoping he can break his coaching duck with a trophy.
"For myself and my club it is an amazing achievement in the three years we have existed we have been in two MTN8 finals. Hopefully this season we will have better luck," McCarthy told Extra-Time on Monday.
"The chairman has set his sides on not being a one-hit wonder club and he has built a foundation of continuity. This time around we don't want to be the bridesmaids standing on the podium."
The same will be said for SuperSport boss Kaitano Tembo, who is just months into his stint as permanent coach at the club and could cap his short stay by helping his side retain the trophy.
"Moses Mabhida is a very good venue and we get a lot of love from the fans there, they always come and watch," Tembo said.
"The final will be no different. The stadium has a very good surface and that will allow us to play attacking football."
