Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) president Luis Rubiales will stand trial in a court in Valencia over an alleged assault on a woman, a court spokesman has told ESPN FC.
The prosecution office has accused Rubiales of inflicting injuries to the architect that was in charge of renovating his house in Valencia on July 19, 2017.
The court has requested Rubiales to post a €21,000 bond, which is the compensation that the prosecutor demands for the plaintiff.
The alleged incident took place near Valencia's town hall, with the prosecutor claiming that Rubiales pushed the architect "aggressively" while "grabbing and shaking" her arm following a heated exchange between the two over a dispute regarding the work done on the house.
The woman claimed the incident not only inflicting injuries to her ribs and wrist, which took 262 days to recover, but also led to her suffering post-traumatic stress disorder.
Rubiales was elected president of the Spanish FA in May 2018 after seven years at the helm of the Spanish Players' Union (AFE). He is expected to run for re-election later this year.
