Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City all sent scouts to watch Rennes' in-form attacking midfielder Paul-Georges Ntep last weekend, RMC reports.
The heavyweight Premier League trio had representatives at Rennes' league game at home to Monaco on Saturday where Ntep, 22, created both his team's goals in a 2-0 win, with Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim later saying: "Ntep won the game on his own."
According to ESPN FC's Julien Laurens, Manchester United have also scouted the playmaker in recent weeks.
The France Under-21 international, who joined Rennes from Auxerre for around five million euros last January, has long been touted as one of French football's most promising talents.
Ntep has six goals and four assists in 11 starts this season, including a strike in his team's 2-1 win at Nice on Wednesday.
He has been involved in seven of the past nine goals scored by Rennes, who are fifth in the table and unbeaten in two months.
