Brazil calls up uncapped teenagers Sávio and Beraldo

Brazil boss Dorival Junior has named uncapped teenagers Sávio and Lucas Beraldo in his first squad since taking over as head coach in January.

Sávio, 19, and Beraldo, 20, have been rewarded for their performances at Girona and Paris Saint-Germain, respectively, and are included in the 26-man group for Brazil's upcoming international friendlies.

"I have no doubt that they are players ready to wear our shirt," Dorival said of the two in a news conference on Friday. "And they will play a great role in these two games."

Dorival's tenure begins with a trip to Wembley to take on England on March 23 followed by a meeting with Spain in Madrid three days later.

Sávio will have competition for playing time in Brazil's attack, which is without an injured Neymar, but features Palmeiras forward Endrick (17), Arsenal's Gabriel Martinelli (22) and Real Madrid pair Vinícius Júnior (23) and Rodrygo (23) among others.

"We have young people that have experienced important moments in their careers," Dorival said. "I don't see it as a problem or obstacle. I think they can do a lot.

"Those who are here are deservedly starters [at their clubs], and can give great returns to our team."

Tottenham forward Richarlison has been included despite sustaining a knee injury in Spurs' 2-1 defeat to Wolves in February while West Ham midfielder Lucas Paquetá returns to the fold for the first time since September.

Brazil, who appointed Dorival in January as a replacement for Fernando Diniz, are sixth in the South American World Cup qualifying standings after winning only two of their six games and suffering three defeats.

"You can be sure that we will have results that may suddenly surprise you," Dorival said.

"Believe me, trust the work. I have no doubt that we will be present again in a World Cup final. Our work will be focused on this.

"Brazilian football reinvents itself quickly, it has players of the highest level, with the ability to believe again."
