Tottenham Hotspur and South Korea forward Son Heung-Min suffered a broken right forearm during a World Cup qualifier in Doha on Tuesday, according to reports.
Son landed awkwardly on his arm during South Korea's 3-2 defeat to Qatar at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, and was visibly in pain before being replaced by Lee Keun-Ho, with the visitors trailing 1-0.
After the game, a Korea Football Association (KFA) official reportedly confirmed to Korean media that Son had fractured his forearm.
The injury was a blow for South Korea, who now lead Uzbekistan by just a point with two matches remaining in the battle to secure the second automatic Asian qualifying sport for next summer's World Cup in Russia.
The 24-year-old enjoyed a superb campaign for Tottenham, scoring 21 goals in all competitions to eclipse the previous scoring record by a Korean in Europe -- Cha Bum-Kun's 19 goals for Bayer Leverkusen in 1985-86.
There is not yet a timescale on Son's injury, but he should be fit for South Korea's crucial double header against Iran, who have already qualified, and Uzbekistan in late August and early September, although he is a doubt for the start of Spurs' preseason, which begins in early July.
