Lucy Li, one of the most prominent players in the field for the inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur, has withdrawn from the event due to injury.
Li, 16, seventh in the latest World Amateur Golf Ranking, is the youngest player to ever qualify for the U.S. Women's Open. Augusta National announced her withdrawal, but did not disclose the injury. Alexa Melton has also withdrawn, citing an injury.
Li and Melton were replaced in the 72-player field by Jessica Yuen and and Kaylee Benton.
The 54-hole event begins Wednesday at Champions Retreat near Augusta, Georgia, with a cut after 36 holes to the top 30 players, who after a Friday practice round, will compete on April 6 at Augusta National, home of the Masters.
The Masters Tournament begins April 11.
