2011 New Balance All Area Code Team

His stock was already high, but after the performance of slugging catcher Clint Coulter of Union (Camas, Wash.) at the 2011 Area Code Games, they could use a little of his kind of stock on Wall Street.

The incoming senior 6-foot-3, 200-pound catcher not only hit the tar out of the ball but played superb defense at backstop.

He hit .526 with a .591 on-base percentage. Of his 10 hits five were doubles and one was a triple for an .895 slugging percentage. At one point Coulter reached base seven consecutive times.

There's little doubt that Coulter, in leading the Kansas City Royals to a 5-0 record, is the headliner of the following New Balance All-Area Code Games Team chosen by the same panel that selected the daily New Balance and Wilson awards.

Also making the Top 25 are the two players at the 25th annual event that left the yard, Kansas City Royals' outfielder Dylan LaVelle of Lake Stevens (Lake Stevens, Wash.), and Texas Rangers' outfielder Courtney Hawkins from Mary Carroll of Corpus Christi, Texas.

Please note that many of the players played more than one position or may not have played the exact position where they've been placed.

After poring over all the box scores for the statistics, and reviewing the five skill tools, players were in a couple of instances placed at a different position than their main one in order to come up with the best possible team.

Also, pitchers that made the Top 35 list previously released are not necessarily placed on this team in the same exact order of their ranking on that list.

A total of 45 players made the Top 25 and the Best of the Rest.

California, with two teams, led the way with 18 players. Texas and Washington were next with six apiece.
