Bellator bantamweight champ Eduardo Dantas to face top contender Darrion Caldwell

Bellator MMA bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas will face No. 1 contender Darrion Caldwell at Bellator 184 on Oct. 6 in Oklahoma.

Officials announced the 135-pound title fight on Friday. The televised event will take place inside WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville.

Dantas (20-4) is a two-time champion. He first won the title in 2012, but he surrendered it to Joe Warren in his third title defense in 2014. He reclaimed the belt in June 2016.

The 28-year-old Brazilian is 10-1 overall in Bellator, with wins over Wilson Reis, Zach Makovsky, Marcos Galvao and Warren.

Caldwell (10-1) is a former NCAA national wrestling champion. He suffered his first pro MMA loss last summer, via submission to Joe Taimanglo. He received an immediate rematch after the loss and defeated Taimanglo by unanimous decision.

Caldwell fights out of Redlands, California.

Also on the Oct. 6 event, former featherweight champion Daniel Straus (24-7) will meet Emmanuel Sanchez (15-3).
