Amanda Nunes-Valentina Shevchenko, Demetrious Johnson-Ray Borg set for UFC 215

The UFC has announced two title fights will co-headline its UFC 215 pay-per-view event on Sept. 9 in Edmonton.

Dominant flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson will seek a record-breaking 11th straight title defense against Ray Borg, and female bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes will face Valentina Shevchenko.

Johnson (26-2-1) tied former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva's mark of 10 title defenses earlier this year against Wilson Reis. ESPN ranks Johnson the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world. He also won an ESPY this month for Best Fighter.

The UFC wanted to book Johnson's record-breaking defense against bantamweight T.J. Dillashaw in August, but Johnson, who fights out of Kirkland, Washington, declined the fight for multiple reasons.

Borg (11-2), of Albuquerque, is 5-2 overall in the UFC. He's reached the top of the division quickly, at age 23.

Nunes (14-4) was supposed to headline UFC 213 earlier this month in Las Vegas, but was forced to pull out on the day of the bout due to symptoms from sinusitis.

Nunes and Shevchenko (14-2) met in a three-round fight in 2016, with Nunes taking a unanimous decision.

UFC 215 takes place at Rogers Arena.
